For anyone else who comes across a similar error. The solution in this case was to run X2Pro on a newer version of OS X/macOS than 10.9 (Mavericks). We are currently investigating why it was not working properly on Mavericks.

Graeme

I have followed all the suggestions on another wild goose chase and..... it's not working. Please see text file. I moved all clips to a different location. Relinked it to there. There is NO permissions issue. I even spoon-fed all folders to X2Pro, ALL of them individually, even individual subfolders. Verified it to the XML file. Still nothing. I have serious doubts that it would work on your system in a real-life scenario, i.e. with more than one control clip. What is the use of it working with 1 clip, when I'm dealing with thousands?

Marloh,

X2Pro 4.0.12 (the same version that you are using) is able to extract audio from the file that you sent us (A066_C079_0809CR.mov) when I try on our system to convert the fcpxml that you provided, so X2Pro doesn't have a problem with the file itself. It looks more like a file read problem. Maybe permissions might be preventing access, or maybe it isn't exactly where the FCPXML says that it is.

The FCPXML says that it should be on a drive called "G-RAID 16TB Thunderbolt LIVE", in the folder "/All The Wild Horses/1 Film/0 edits/All The Wild Horses.fcpbundle/2 media/Original Media".

Can you please check that the file is exactly where it says and check permissions on that file?

It might also be worth putting that clip in a project on its own and try converting that. If that doesn't work, try moving the file out of that location temporarily and relinking the small project to the file in its new location and see whether X2Pro can convert the project then.

Please let me know how you get on with those suggestions.

Yes, the location exists. I wouldn't let me start the aaf without having locations where it finds the media, which is all in one place anyway. Also attached the XML.

Dear Marlo,

I am slightly confused the .txt shows that you can forcibly create an AAF but we are struggling to open 11 files on the G-RAID, have you added this as a media location in X2Pro preferences ?

Can you confirm that the media exists in that location
:///Volumes/G-RAID%2016TB%20Thunderbolt%20LIVE/All%20The%20Wild%20Horses/1%20Film/0%20edits/All%20The%20Wild%20Horses.fcpbundle/2%20media/Original%20Media/A066_C003_0808F3.mov

If so would you be able to upload one of the .movs and if possible detail its origins ? We will forward you ftp details.

Regarding a refund yes, absolutely you can approach the App store and they will oblige, regarding the exchange rate that is not set by us that is something the app store has set.

Yours Sincerely

I purchased X2Pro for the sole point of generating an AAF file from an XML file but it seems to not like Prores 422 HQ files, as well as all compound clips. This makes it completely unusable for me. 100% not up to the task.

I already spoke to someone at X2Pro who advised me to spend even more money and buy the Pro version. So I did. But it still has the same issues. I feel thoroughly taken for a ride at this point, £149 poorer – even though it was advertised at $149!!

Here is the errors I'm getting just for a 10 minute clip, multiply that by 9 for the complete feature. Trying to attach the XML but at 4.5MB it already exceeds the dats limit on here. I'm going to ask for a refund as I'm really unimpressed with the 'no trial – full price – 1 to 1 $ to £ conversion' and then it doesn't even work.

I hope I can find an answer but I'm not holding my breath tbh.

This is obviously a common error and I'm definitely not the first to come across it. I can email the XML file of course.
