Hi,
I too am receiving these errors.
Writing AAF file
Adding assets to AAF file
Adding essence for asset [Tone] to AAF file
Opening audio extractor for portion 0 of asset [Tone]
Failed to open audio extractor
Error Opening asset (/Volumes/YARRY_BIO_b/2014_TLW-MEETING/MX/Tone.aif) with QuickTime (The operation couldn’t be completed. (OSStatus error -54.)) [-54] [permissions error (on file open)]
Suggestion: Please ensure that:
- the media file has not been moved or deleted;
- you have added its location to the Media Locations in preferences;
- the media file can be played using QuickTime player.
No AAF file has been generated.
File exists in location specified, file is playable in quicktime, x2pro does have read access to location, permissions checked and okay.

Here's another go at sending the files to you. I will not be available online again until probably around midnight your time but appreciate your ongoing efforts.

Attached are the requested files for your review - thanks!
I've tried thrice to upload the files and received an Error 500. Trying sending them as a ZIP archive this time (fingers crossed). Also reduced the size of the vid, it apparently being the culprit due to size.

Hi, Guys!
I received Tom's note. The very small test project I created did not generate errors in the process, though I believe I saw ERROR within some of the Console text.
This afternoon I've made a new attempt at the fcpxml file of my entire episode and once again ran into the X2Pro error, as follows:
Writing AAF file
Adding assets to AAF file
Adding essence for asset [VO INTRO_BDJ_101] to AAF file
Opening audio extractor for portion 0 of asset [VO INTRO_BDJ_101]
Failed to open audio extractor
Error Opening asset (/Volumes/AEE_BOOKCASE-II/BOOKS_DU_JOUR/EPISODES/BDJ_EP101.fcpbundle/2014-02-22/Original Media/VO INTRO_BDJ_101.wav) with QuickTime (The movie contains an invalid data reference.) [-2012] []
Suggestion: Please ensure that:
- the media file has not been moved or deleted;
- you have added its location to the Media Locations in preferences;
- the media file can be played using QuickTime player.
No AAF file has been generated.
I have attached a txt file of the messages generated by Console up to and including the X2Pro error, done after having cleared the Console display.
=
My second go-round - making a data-only AAF - produced the following errors:
• Retiming is not supported. The retiming at 00:00:38.00 has been ignored.
• Retiming is not supported. The retiming at 00:00:54.52 has been ignored.
• Retiming is not supported. The retiming at 00:26:40.13 has been ignored.
This seems to have successfully created an asset-less AAF, attached.
The Console messages for this try at the asset-less version is here:
Thanks very much both for your time and patience!
Cheers.
Max

James:
Attached are two .txt docs containing the copy/paste text from console for both the NoData and IncData versions as well as the AAF files generated in both instances.
I received no error messages within the app but did see plenty ERROR in the console text.
Many thanks!

Hi Mahatma,
I am going to send you a private mail as there is some functionality we can apply to generate an AAF without essence so we can progress this further.
Yours Sincerely

Dear James:
Thanks very much for the speedy reply. In order,
A) Yes, having tried again with my FCP xml file and verifying media locations, etc., I received the same error:
Writing AAF file
Adding assets to AAF file
Adding essence for asset [VO INTRO_BDJ_101] to AAF file
Opening audio extractor for portion 0 of asset [VO INTRO_BDJ_101]
Failed to open audio extractor

- you have added its location to the Media Locations in preferences;
- the media file can be played using QuickTime player.
No AAF file has been generated.
B) Yes, I created a separate project timeline, exported xml, have used X2Pro to convert to .aaf, as attached. Lacking an app with which to open it, I do not for the moment know if the conversion was successful - does it load into an 11-second, playable audio file at your side?
C) Thanks for the clarification about the resulting .aaf file type. PT is, for the moment, out of my price range as a one-man-bandie, but perhaps Logic Pro X lurks around the corner.
Thanks for your expert insights!
Cheers.

Hi Mahatma,
Can you advise whether you are getting the same error message for the same clip
Error Opening asset (/Volumes/AEE_BOOKCASE-II/BOOKS_DU_JOUR/EPISODES/BDJ_EP101.fcpbundle/2014-02-22/Original Media/VO INTRO_BDJ_101.wav) with QuickTime (The movie contains an invalid data reference.) [-2012] []
Or are you getting something slightly different now ?
Is it possible to create a version of your sequence that just contains the timeline that was used for the duration of the clip VO INTRO_BDJ_101 in your original sequence ?
And to confirm, yes X2Pro was originally written to create PT friendly AAFs, and it was then expanded to create Pyramix and Nuendo friendly AAFs. And some others although they would not have been by design.
Yours Sincerely
James.

Follow-up: I sorted my misunderstanding about verifying the XML file with the location/s chosen and exported a brief project consisting of only the offending WAV file. I now have an AAF file successfully created of the test.
Subsequently, tried with the FCPx XML of my full-length episode and again encountered the invalid data reference.
==
As a sidebar, am I correct in presuming the resulting AAF files are ProTools-specific? I attempted opening my small test AAF in both Audition and Soundtrack Pro without success.
Thanks again.

Graeme:
BTW, I did attempt choosing the next folder (BDJ_EP101) to find everything in that level, including the FCPX Library file for my assets, greyed-out.
Thanks again.

I can and have launched the offending audio file in QT and it plays perfectly. I've moved none of my assets since beginning the edit process, now concluded.
I have added the episode folder to the media locations and was able to verify the availability of the assets within last night but, strangely, cannot do so today though I've not done anything to folder structure nor the assets within - verifying the asset location folder left me with a greyed-out Open button (screenshot attached)
.
FWIW, I am using FCPX 10.1.1/OSX 10.9.2 and am wondering if the new Library structure may be problematic for the current iteration of X2ProLE?
Thanks for your guidance.

I will send you a private message with FTP details.
Before you upload that clip, it would be good if we could confirm that it is the WAV file that is causing the issue. Would you be able to create a new project containing only that wav and try to convert the project using X2Pro.
If that still fails, then the issue must be with X2Pro reading the WAV.
