If FCPX is unable to read the xmls it has created when you re-import them back in, then unfortuntely there isn't anything we can suggest on the X2Pro side of things. I recommend contacting Apple or a Final Cut support forum and saying that when you export your FCPXML and try to reimport it back in you get the following error.
Error:
DTD validation failed. (Syntax of value for attribute ref of audio is not valid
Syntax of value for attribute ref of audio is not valid

Hopefully they can resolve the issue or give more information to why you are getting this unvalid attribute reference.

I generate them like I usually do: activate the project, choose File -> Export XML
I don't use any other programs inbetween.
Weirdly, all the full episode XMLs are badly created, but when I copied the opening sequence as a separate project, the XML worked properly... I also tried to make one of the episodes in halves, but neither half worked in X2Pro

The developer found the same issue in the XML that FCPX is complaining about, it a badly created XML. ref="" There is several instances of references which are blank. These need to have a reference to an asset for it to work. How did you generate the XML? Are you using any other programs or plugins inbetween FCPX and X2Pro?

Are you exporting V1.9 XML? There are references in the Apple forum to this problem and the 'fix' quoted is to export a V1.9 XML. Each version will export 2 different versions of XML, try the other one!

Hi.
Yes, that is the case with my projects too, I tried and it didn't import any of the 4 episode's projects.

What can I do to export a "good" XML?:)

Are you able to re-import the 'bad' XML files into FCPX? We have seen several instances of files being created by FCPX which it will not then read. Please create a new project and try to import one of the files which X2Pro can't parse and let me know what the result is.

Hi.
All the media is online.
It is a TV project and it gives the same error with all 4 episode's XMLs. But for example if I try only with the opening sequence, it works fine.
Thank you for your help!

Hi Lili,
I am just going to have a conversation with one of the developers as that is an error I haven't seen before myself. One thing worth trying is double check that all the media is online in FCPX and then if it is export a new FCPXML out of FCPX as sometimes the XML creation can create a bad xml file.
I will update you as soon as I hear back from the developer :).
Many thanks,
Daniel

Hi Lili,
Can you check X2Pro has access to all the media locations? In the X2Pro preferences on the media locations tab, add the media locations for your media files and see if that helps.
Thanks,
Daniel

Hi.
I am having the same problem:
Unable to parse FCP XML file to obtain project information
Details:
Asset Resource with ID not found
Extracting Audio
Extracting audio
Processing Audio element
Processing element AudioElement
Processing element ClipElement
Processing element GapElement
Processing element ProjectElement
Processing element SequenceElement
Processing element SpineElement
Suggestions:
- Ensure that the file is not locked by another application and is readable;
- Ensure that this is a valid FCP XML file from a released version of FCP X;
- Ensure that this is the export of a Project, not of a Library or Event;
- Ensure that this is not an empty project (or that all audio is disabled);
X2Pro Audio Convert 4.5.7
Every suggestion is done.
I tried to make the project in halves, but both halves give the same error.
Can someone give any advice?
Attached the XML.
Thank you.

From the developer: "There is no reference to 04AT01-03 in that AAF file.However, the references in there are of the form
file:///Volumes/A%20Hip%20Hop%20Christmas%20Editor%2064TB/A%20Hip%20Hop%20Christmas/Audio/Pro%20Tools%20Exports/Audio%20Files/68FT01_04.wav.
This looks good to me, assuming there is a volume called "A Hip Hop Christmas Editor 64TB" mounted."
The developer can't see any issues with the references at all and thinks this might be a problem with how Pro Tools imports references audio. His only other suggestion was to not reference the audio and try embedding it into the AAF.

In an attempt to gain access to the audio files I used Logic Pro to open the XML and it generated the .wav files. I imported those into the Pro Tools Audio folder and re linked. There were still a few files missing however, 90% of them were there. I would really like to get this to work. Can we do a screen share?
