If audio was detached from video (so that it appears to be a separate clip on the timeline) before retiming was applied to the video clip, the retiming will not affect the attached audio.

If your handles are set to 4 seconds, but there is not 4 extra seconds of audio available at the start/end of the clip, X2Pro will include as much as there is available. In the case of using up to the absolute last frame in the project, the trailing handle would be nothing because there is no more audio left to include.

X2Pro reports about all instances of retiming regardless of whether they are applied to clips containing audio, or whether they are video-only clips. Just because ignored retiming effects have been reported, doesn't necessarily mean that any of them were retimed audio.

Yes; you can send your AAF over, and we could send you back a screen grab of it in Pro Tools. If you want to do this, please send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Thank You for the info. I did not realize I could open XML in text reader. Another two dozen xml exports and the info showed me all the clips that are problematic. This was great. I then found the audio was retimed with video, they were probably attached to video. I then later detached audio. I have now retimed all corresponding audio clips back to normal 100%, and I believe it just exported.

If the audio was detached before the retiming, would the retiming affect the video only?

Also, what if a clip is used to the absolute last frame, what happens if a 4 second handle is chosen? Will the AAF export?

Below is the report. There are many retimings not supported. Does that mean the audio is not at normal/100%. Do I need to go back and change all those occurrences?

Can I send the AAF somehow? Can you check the AAF and see how it looks in Pro Tools. Thank You very much for all your help.

This is the message upon export:
[Summarised by Graeme to make post shorter:
  • 102 EQ adjustments ignored
  • 6 filters ignored
  • 6 hum reductions ignored
  • 29 loudness adjustments ignored
  • 17 noise reductions ignored
  • 304 panning adjustments ignored
  • 88 retimings ignored

r164 is a clip called "LN5A2516" from a folder called "2015_10_09_Ironman_Louisville_Motion". Hope that helps.

It would be useful if the error message mentioned the name of the clip, I think there is already a feature request on the system for that.

In the meantime, if you open the fcpxml up in TextEdit and search for the asset number ("r164"), you should see the name of the clip close by.

Hello,
I have been trying to export an AAF for a few days. I have been deleting audio tracks that have video that is retimed. I have had dozens of xml exports and then tried every different setting in preferences. The handle length does not seem to matter, because I get the same error regardless of length. I now have it at 2 seconds. I can not get an AAF to export. I can not figure out what r162 references??? System info and message below. Please help.
Mac OS 10.9.5
FCPX 10.1.4
X2Pro 3.0.5

Writing AAF file
Adding tracks to AAF file
Writing AAF track structure
Processing clip
Unable to find asset portion in asset r162 to match usage starting at 2.29403 seconds with duration 7.99925 seconds

No AAF file has been generated.
