We are down to just ten tracks. A1-10. Somehow it is crashing for that portion. Have you guys ever heard of anything like this?

thanks.

Any thing else I can do to progress. Seems of the 90+ tracks, all the music and effects were able to be parted out, 10-20 tracks at a time, except for A1-A15.
Happy to send XML, but it is larger than the file size limit on your site.
Any other guidance is greatly appreciated. The project is completely stalled out as this process does not seem to be working for feature length projects.

thank you.

tried to upload XML, it is 10MB, and website says it exceeds your file size limit to upload, is there an email I can send it to?

Project is 1 hour, 45min.

Sound Mixer is importing sections at a time and of the 50 (!) dialogue tracks, it crashes on A1-20.

I think this might be an error message, was sent by mixer late last night, likely frustrated.

Writing AAF file
Getting audio characteristics for asset [PA6-2181_01]
Error trying to create reference for asset (not a WAV file or too many audio channels)

I'll upload XML in next message.

How long is your project in FCP X?

Please upload your FCPXML.

This text from our KB should give some incite into why you have more tracks in the AAF output than you did in your FCP X timeline:

Final Cut Pro X uses the magnetic timeline in order to layout a project, while within AAF a composition is constructed from a number of fixed tracks. In AAF, each track is a single (mono) channel of audio. The first thing that X2Pro does is to group and sort everything by its role within the Final Cut Pro X project. This results in tracks in the AAF file also being grouped by role, typically dialogue first, then effects and music. There are options for the user to be able to create their own role order, ignore some roles entirely, and to ignore subroles when laying out the tracks so that all the subroles of one role will be packed onto as few tracks as possible (this feature is not available in X2ProLE).
Within each role, X2Pro analyses the Final Cut project and places the clips on tracks in a logical fashion, usually creating several tracks in the AAF file from each role. Final Cut Pro project components will be rearranged during the conversion process:

  • Multi-channel clips will be split into separate mono components, each placed on a separate track;
  • Clips that overlap (for example J/L Cuts) will be put on between different tracks;
  • Composite clips will be separated into their component clips;
  • Multicam clips will be reduced to the selected angle;

  • In these cases, where necessary, extra tracks are created in the AAF file, so the AAF file will often contain many more tracks than the Final Cut Pro X project appeared to have. Each track will contain clips from just one role and will be named accordingly, for example "A24 (effects)".

    I did two outputs. The first, was 60GB with "Trim Embedded Media" not checked.
    And I did a second output with it checked for 30GB.

    thanks,

    Can you tell me if you had "Trim Embedded Media" selected when you did the conversion?
    Or did you just set the trim handles to a certain length?

    Trying to export a feature to a pro tools session. Using x2Pro paid version.

    I followed tutorials and what I can find online for selections. Except I do not specify Media Locations because they seem to all be embedded and x2Pro seems to be working as I get an AAF completed.

    Several odd things are happening on the Pro Tools end. (Mind you I am only the editor, and viewing what the mixer is showing me).

    1. With 10 second handles the file is 30GB. Is that normal?
    2. On Pro Tools ingest it keeps CRASHING half way through - "kernel panic" was what the mixer said.
    3. There are 80 tracks! when on my timeline I only have A1-A6 (with 1-3 active mics), fx, music.
    I assigned roles to each of the tracks.
    4. Pro Tools session defaults to 96k, when there is only two tracks that have this.

    This has completely stalled out the project. People cannot work unless the session can be built.

    thanks in advance.
