Jeremy. Thank you for the reply. I just wanted to get back with you as to the current state of events.

Currently the issue is RESOLVED and here's what worked;

I was getting the RED invalid file error posted at the start of this thread. Locating the file it was apparent that the RED file was indeed split. I gave X2Pro the correct permissions but that didn't help.

In an effort to help you requested my XML but apparently that didn't yield any solution.

You then requested the actual RED file but frankly I didn't have the time or the bandwith to upload a 5GB file.

I tried a really janky work around by separating all the audio from the RED files and laying a QT version of the flick over the original red files. I don't recommend this approach because it's a lot of work and if you change so much as a frame you're looking at a lot of rendering and it adds an un-necessary level of complexity to a creative process.

Also, even with the QT laid over and no actual RED files in my timeline I was STILL getting the error when exporting to AAF. So WTF?

Well, the simple solution was disabling the audio. I was able to do this in my original RED timeline and everything exported fine. I believe we'll be able to re-enable the file down the road but ultimately this is what fixed it.

Again, apologies for not sending the RED so you could investigate further but I have limited bandwith and need to be surgical what I expend it on.

So, again, the solution was disabling the problem file and hoping we can re-enable it down the road, which it looks like we can.

Thanks again for following up and doing your best to help resolve this issue. Love the product and couldn't do what I do without it.

Thanks.

"After you added your drives into the media locations, did the error message change?"

No.

"Or were you telling me you had your drives in the Media Locations when you first tried it and got the error reported originally."

Correct. And just to be sure I removed the drives and added them back. Still the same error, same RED file.

"The solutions in the past have been to add the drives to the Media Locations, so that X2Pro can access the other parts of the file."

Ah. Ok I've done that. INCLUDING the sub folders as well as the drives. Still no change.

I see you sent an FTP link. I'll send that RED file your way. Thanks.

I have email you directly to obtain the file.
Please let me know if you do not receive our email.

The solutions in the past have been to add the drives to the Media Locations, so that X2Pro can access the other parts of the file.

"We have seen many times where RED clips actually span multiple files because of their duration, and FCP will only mention the 1 file in the FCPXML and assume that what looks at that references understands the correlation to the other files."

Is there a work around for this?

Great thanks.

I did indeed add my main system drive as well as my external media drive. I was able to use the xml file to verify x2pro has access.

The RED file in question does appear to be in two parts when examining it.

Attached below is the XML. Thank you!

Would you please attach your FCPXML.
Also, can you try adding your main system drive to the X2Pro Media Locations in the X2Pro User Preferences section.

We have seen many times where RED clips actually span multiple files because of their duration, and FCP will only mention the 1 file in the FCPXML and assume that what looks at that references understands the correlation to the other files.

If that does not work, then we would like to get the source file from you, if possible.
I can give you a secure FTP location for you to put it at, if it comes to that.

Please advise how you get on.
