Graeme Robinson replied the topic: too many audio track errors
Hi Angus,
If your project contains any audio that is not from single channel WAV files, and you have the option to "Reference WAV files in place" turned on, you may see this error message.
Pro Tools is known to have problems with referenced audio that is not in a single channel WAV file, so that is why X2Pro is not converting the project.
There are a couple of settings in the "Media Handling" section of X2Pro's preferences that can affect whether you see this error message:
I hope this explains what you are seeing and why.

There are a couple of settings in the "Media Handling" section of X2Pro's preferences that can affect whether you see this error message:
- "Reference multi-channel WAV files" - If this is turned on, then X2Pro will reference audio from multi channel WAV files. This will cause problems for Pro Tools, but if you know that your DAW supports referenced multi channel WAV audio, you can enable it with this option.
- "Handling media that can't be referenced"
- "Generate an error and don't create AAF file" - If this is selected, you will see an error whenever your project contains any audio from non-WAV sources (e.g. a MOV file), or if you have "Reference multi-channel WAV files" turned off, and your project contains audio from multi-channel WAV files
- "Embed the media, optionally trimming" - If this is selected, you won't see an error whenever your project contains any audio from non-WAV sources because that audio will be embedded in the AAF. If you have "Reference multi-channel WAV files" turned off, then audio from multi-channel WAV files will also be embedded in the AAF. This option allows you to reference any audio that can be referenced, and embeds any audio that can't be referenced, so it will completely avoid the error message you have reported.
I hope this explains what you are seeing and why.
