Dear Jcordeiro,

To answer your questions, 3.0.13, does work here in the lab with 10.11.6, so it must be something in the XML itself, so to progress we will pop you details via a mail, of where to upload the XML if possible. and we will investigate.

Regarding obtaining 2.4 from the internet rather than the app store, then it will be a pirated version and as such I would be extremely cautious about any machine I had loaded it on.

Yours Sincerely

James

Dear support team,

I've spent a few hours (too many, I'm afraid) to get to the point where I could convert an FCPXML into a usable AAF.
The reason why I'm writing this post is to share my experience so it may be useful to others and because I may need your help to convert a similar file tomorrow.

1 - Using a macbook pro running Yosemite OS 10.10 and X2Pro 3.0.13 I got this error

An error occurred converting Final Cut XML to AAF
Writing AAF file
Adding assets to AAF file
Adding essence for asset [A001_C144_10020Y] to AAF file
Opening audio extractor for portion 0 of asset [A001_C144_10020Y]
Failed to initialise audio extractor with default bit depth of 16
Failed to create QT movie
No AAF file has been generated.
X2Pro Audio Convert 3.0.13

2 - Then, I read at the X2Pro forum that I should update to OS 10.11.6 (El Capitan). I did it and from that time on, the X2Pro would crash without outputting any error log (I had to open OS X console to get some information).

3 - Then, I used my old macbook pro running OS 10.11.4 (El Capitan) and I was able to obtain the same kind of output log without crashing the X2Pro.

4 - The next stage was to find online an old version of the X2Pro. The only I could find was X2ProLE 2.4. I uninstalled X2Pro 3.0.13 using App Cleaner and installed this version.

5 - From that moment on, I stopped receiving the previous error and a new one came along, something like:

Auditions had to be Finalised in FCPX before exporting.

6 - So, I went to FCPX and created a smart collection based on auditions, which did not work. Than, I went to the timeline browser and found some auditions there. As far as i know, there isn't a way to show only the auditions being used, so the only way to find them was to go file by file (the auditions have a dedicated icon). I Finalised all the auditions one by one.

7 - After that I exported a FCPXML file and tried again. This time the error was complaining about the use of MXF files. Again, I did not know any easy way to spot all the MFX file being used on a Final Cut Pro project so I had to use the finder to get their names and then looked for them in FCPX. I deleted them using the "Delete and Add Gap" feature to avoid desynchronising the timeline.

8 - After this, I exported a FCPXML again and it worked well on the old computer.

So, I reached to the conclusion that there is a compatibility issue between my version of El Capitan (10.11.6.) and X2Pro 3.0.13 (is it possible?). I tried to install X2ProLE 2.4 on my newest macbook pro (running OS 10.11.6) and it didn't install.

My questions now are the following:
1 - can you tell me how to make X2Pro 3.0.13 to work properly on El Capitan 10.11.6?

2 - Is it possible that you send me an installer of the X2Pro 2.4 (or older)?
Since I have paid for the non-LE version, I would like to have it running on my old macbook, instead of the cracked LE version I found somewhere on the internet (which actually ended up saving my day ;-/)

I would like to attach the FCPXML but it exceeds the limit allowed by the configuration of this forum.

Thanks in advance for your help and congratulation for putting together this piece of software. So far it has been of great importance for my work.

Cheers

Joao
