well removing the title allowed Logic X to open the XML. while the track layout isn't ideal, I can finally get this done...

I don't have the developer tools installed on this system right now, so I don't have the XML / plist edtior installed. opening the file in text edit the invisible char isn't to bee seen and it looks fine. ok, so I removed the title giving this error fixing that problem, and I then get another error :

Unable to parse FCP XML file to obtain project information

Details:
Invalid track number 2 referencing asset A027C291_160105IA_C300A.MXF
Suggestions:
- Ensure that the file is not locked by another application and is readable;
- Ensure that this is a valid FCP XML file from a released version of FCP X;
- Ensure that this is the export of a Project, not of a Library or Event;
- Ensure that this is not an empty project (or that all audio is disabled);

The file is from a C300 mk2 FWIW.... so I don't know what to do. this should just work. the xml errors should be skipped and some useful file output. seriously desperate at this point to get 2 TL's mixed and delivered.. not sure what to do as this was my last hope before resorting to really dumb ways of getting this done because I just need to have it done... which is why I bought this app in the first place, all other attempts and failed. now I may either export everything out as single tracks, to mute things, play the audio out of one machine and capture into another. yes crazy but I'm at that point I don't care what it takes, I just need it to be done and delivered. thanks

Thanks so much for that ! I'm on the road the next couple of days so i won't be able to do anything with it until fri :( ... but then I need to crank this out ASAP as its late.

"The Baumann family is Wisconsin’s ETXlargest grower of American ginseng." is not the name of the project or any item in the project. its contents of a title. that title came from PP and I probably redid it in FCP X. So between resolve and FCP X return and export it got mangled. I can just delete the clip ( I think, I hope, I thought I had replaced it with a PSD file ) and redo it. Let you know what happens Fri.

Dear Steve,

When we look at the FCP XML we see an illegal character being used, the escape for this character is the ETX, so it appears just before "largest".
"The Baumann family is Wisconsin’s ETXlargest grower of American ginseng."

If you can check the naming your end and remove what ever character it is that precedes the "largest" then the XML itself will be processed.
We modified it here, and we then found that there is a clip that is being used A027C291_160105IA_C300A.MXF and it is referenced as having four audio channels, but elsewhere in the XML it declares these channels to be muted. Would you be able to check the use of this clip.

Yours Sincerely

James

badly need to mix & deliver project. edit in FCP X 10.2.3, Grade in Resolve 12.5.2, Bring that XML back into FCP X, all is good, now mix. Export V1.4 and V1.5 XML from FPCx and this is what I get - same problem with XML. FWIW Logic X won't import it either.
error msg is :

Unable to parse FCP XML file to obtain project information

Details:
Unable to parse file /Volumes/Galaxy9/Ginseng 2015/Mixes 2016/Ginseng 2016 Main TL V5 ALT (Resolve) (Resolve)all tracks on.fcpxml (Line 103: invalid character in attribute value
Line 103: attributes construct error
Line 103: Couldn't find end of Start Tag video
)

Suggestions:
- Ensure that the file is not locked by another application and is readable;
- Ensure that this is a valid FCP XML file from a released version of FCP X;
- Ensure that this is the export of a Project, not of a Library or Event;
- Ensure that this is not an empty project (or that all audio is disabled);
