Dear Sue,
4.0.12 has been released today and this resolves the issue where markers from sections of clips that are not used in the timeline are included in aaf.
Yours Sincerely
James

Dear Sue,
Just so you are aware we have submitted a new version of X2Pro (4.0.12) to Apple that resolves the issue you reported, it will therefore take some time before it is actually available on the app store.
Yours Sincerely
James

I've investigated the behaviour, and this looks like a bug to me, so I've added it to our system as ticket 6836. I'll update you when any progress is made.
A workaround in future (until we have fixed the bug) might be to export v1.5 fcpxmls, because the issue doesn't happen when converting them.

I can see that there are still 1174 markers in your project, but only 10 are "To Do" markers.
It looks like they are markers that are attached to parts of clips that are not used in your project. For example there is one attached to "interview Erna 1" (which starts at 00:00:49:24 in your project), but it is attached to the clip 00:00:05:05 BEFORE the start of the section that you have used.
I'm looking into what the expected behaviour is when encountering markers like this, but to prevent holding you up, I've removed all markers (except the 10 "To do" markers) from your fcpxml and attached it here. If you convert this, you should have an AAF that your sound editor can use.

I removed all markers from a project in the timeline by deleting them in the timeline index (FCPX).
Added To-Do markers in the project (attached to audio clips) with specific info for the sound editor.
Exported an XML of the timeline (Project).
Converted with X2Pro > AAF incl. files with 15 sec handles.
On import in ProTools there are hundreds of markers (despite me having deteled them) and it has proved to be impossible for the sound editor to distill the To-Do markers out from that huge list - hence making my To-Do comments unusable.
Could the markers be markers that are on the media in the handles (and hence not in the timeline and therefore not deleted by me)?
Any tips recommended.
