Dear Lasse,

Will forward you details of an ftp site, where we have another version of the code that works without causing issue in ProTools for this episode 10.

Yours sincerely

James.

Dear Lasse,

Regarding episode 10, yes even without media the AAF created is causing ProTools to trip up, I cannot see how as the fixed fcpxml looks valid. Have raised as a bug and have asked our development to investigate.

Will advise.

Yours sincerely

James

Hi James

Trouble with pgm 10 AAF.

Could that fact that I renamed the XML (for program 10) in order to make X2PRO collaborate have caused trouble? That fact of the matter is, that my sound engineer just got back to me and let know that his Pro Tools vers. 10.3 crashes when he tries ta open the AAF.

I'm creating an AAF from the FCPXML (program 12) you've just sent me (and thank you). It didn't ask me to manually point at the media locations (like the AAF pgm 10 did), so a have a feeling (maybe it's just a hope), that pgm 12 may work.

I'll let you know whether pgm 12 works on his Pro Tools. If in fact it does, maybe it's worth a shot, that you send me pgm 10 with the FCPXML-name. Or what is your take on that´?

Dear Lasse,

Please find attached a fixed fcpxml (RTR2Program12-2fixed.fcpxml) for episode 12. Let us know how you get on.

Yours Sincerely

James,

Hi James

As you suspected, unfortunately, it didn't help to tick the box that allows X2PRO to forcibly create an AAF.

I've attached the XML for program 12 in my post below and ind this post as well.

If I contrary to belief experience problems with XML's from programs 13 thru 20 after they have been picture locked I will let you know.

You've been very kind.

Best
Lasse

Dear Lasse,

Please attach the files and we will fix them up, there is a little utility we created that you could use to do this yourself but it would mean running a command script. Essentially we check to see if there are any assets that are labelled as having no audio, but in the sequence audio is subsequently used from them, what we then do is change those assets to say they do have audio.

The force create is located in the preferences panel for X2Pro, if you go to the media handling tab and look at the Handling Media Errors section there are two options, one of which is to forcibly create an AAF. It might not work in this particular instance but its worth having as an option if no one is on the forum.

Yours Sincerely
James

Hi James

I was successfully able to create an AAF with the fixed XML you kindly provided. I can't 100% check if it's working, but expect it will. Convert time was normal and file size was normal. My sound engineer is sitting 1000 km. further south on a dodgy connection so he needs a couple of hours to download the AAF to confirm it's working.

In the meantime I went through the motion of exporting XML's from programs 12 thru 20 and program 12 is causing the same problem as program 10 for some weird reason. 13 thru 20 works fine (these programs haven't been picture locked yet, though.)

So now I have three questions:
1. Would you be so kind and give program 12, that has been picture locked, the same treatment as program 10?
2. What is it exactly you do to fix the file and would I be able to do it as well?
3. You mentioned that the latest version of X2PRO can forcibly create an AAF, but I can't see any newer versions than my 4.0.11. Am I mistaken?

Best
Lasse

Hi Lasse

Yes, sorry I left the extension as .xml when yes X2Pro will only see it as .fcpmxl

Hi James

I'm on a mac, but do the mac equivalent to a right click on a pc, but I just get the option "save link as". I do get a file on my drive named "fixed.xml", but as X2PRO will have nothing to do with it I suspect that I don't get the actual xml on my drive.

After having written the above I got the idea to rename the file .fcpxml. Now X2PRO accepted it. But needed to be told the media locations manually.

It's chewing now ... I'll get back to you with an update.

Thanks for your swift reply.

Best regards
Lasse

Hi Lars,

If you are on a windows box, then hover over the "fixed.xml" right click and select save target as.

Hope the above helps.

Dear James

Thank you so much. I'm very exited and hope this will work, but the task of downloading the fixed xml seems to big for me. I cmd+click, I drag ... when I click it, I just get a new tab with text. Help the idiot, please!

Best regards
Lasse

Dear Lars,

Yes this is a problem we came across about a year ago, there is a problem where an asset is described as having no audio but in the project it references audio from it. It was raised with Apple as we did not think that FCP should create an XML like that.

We have changed the description for r22 in your XML so it should now work, incidentally if you are faced with a deadline and we are not about there is the ability in the latest version of X2Pro to forcibly create an AAF.

Yours Sincerely

James

It would help a lot if you could tell me what ld r22 is. Maybe that could help me find a work around.
I'm trying all sorts of things. Like muting parts of the project and creating an XML with that part missing. I'm making 20(!) programs each 12 minutes for Broadcast. So far I have successfully created AAF for program 1-9 and 11. Number 12 is next, but I'd have to skip 10 for now, but I'm nerve wrackingly close to the deadline!
I'm desperate here. PLEASE HELP!

I've been reading similar threads as the one I'm starting now, but I'm still unable to solve my problem. Like others here I'm on a tight deadline, so I'm desperate for a quick answer. Please!

I'm exporting an 1.5 XML from FCPX 10.3 and get the error pasted below when dropping the XML into X2PRO 4.0.11.
Details:
Getting asset with Id r22
Unable to find asset with Id r22
Suggestions:
- Ensure that the file is not locked by another application and is readable;
- Ensure that this is a valid FCP XML file from a released version of FCP X;
- Ensure that this is the export of a Project, not of a Library or Event;
- Ensure that this is not an empty project (or that all audio is disabled);

X2Pro Audio Convert 4.0.11
I've attached xml and error txt.

Please help!

Best regards
Lasse
