Hi,
FWIW we sends lots of AAF's fromX2pro to various post houses, Often in FCPX if remove silent audio channels has not been used PT will see lots of empty or almost empty tracks. In PT the quickest thing to do is to use strip silence to remove this silent audio. We have found the best route in FCPX is to bring clips in without removing silence, let the clips process and then remove silent channels from the clips in the browser before they are cut into a project.

cheers angus

FCP X doesn't really have a concept of "tracks"; clips are put on "lanes", but clips with multiple audio tracks fit on one lane, and a compound clip that can have multiple video and audio lanes can take up a single lane in your project. For this reason X2Pro uses "roles" to organise clips into groups of tracks (like the share-to-master-file feature of FCP X does). There will almost always be more tracks in Pro Tools than there were lanes in FCP X

Hi Graeme, yes in fact I did send it to a friend who is editing the sounds in Pro Tools. It did open up with about 7o tracks when in fact only a maximum of 8 tracks were visible in my fcpx file. However I hadn't edited the subroles in the NEW fcpx so maybe that had something to do with it. I was just trying to learn how to export more efficiently and effectively with x2pro in the chain. Logic X definitely has compatibility issues, which is a shame as it manages to import it all. Just doesn't have a clue as to where to put it all.

Do you have access to a Pro Tools system to check the AAF there? While we have been told that opening X2Pro's AAFs in Logic X works, the "supported workflow" is to open the AAF in Avid Pro Tools

I created an XML file in FCPX then opened X2pro and created my AAF file from the fcpx xml.
On importing this AAF into Logic Pro X the sound files were placed at illogical places along the timeline..
Should I be doing something special to get the audio sequences in the correct position on the time line?
Thanks
