Graeme Robinson created the topic: Invalid track layout for asset
Sometimes FCP X creates fcpxml files that don't have enough information describing the audio that is used in a project. This can result in a number of error messages when trying to convert the project using X2Pro, such as:
  • Invalid track layout for asset
  • No ref attribute found
  • Invalid track number x referencing asset
  • X2Pro crashed

While we look into how we can make X2Pro more tolerant of this issue, we have created a tool which might enable users to work around the error. At , you can upload your fcpxml and download a "fixed" copy of it which may enable you to convert your project.

  • Please read the forum rules before making a new post.
  • Copy and paste the text from any error message. Please don't post screen grabs of X2Pro error messages.
  • Investigations into issues when converting a project will be faster if you attach your fcpxml file
  • If you are having trouble with X2Pro's "Media Locations" or the app sandbox, please read this explanation and guide for help.
  • If you seeing the error message "not a WAV file or too many audio channels", please read this explanation
