Hi Graeme,

Just wanted to update you on this, in case it is useful for you. I had to have a crash course in FCPX file management.
So it appears the FCP uses a lot of aliases in its file structure. I don't know why. I finally tracked down that the xml was pointing to an alias of the fie you mentioned. I replaced the alias with the file and it fixed it. I think the alias had become orphaned at some point.
Of course I had no idea at the time that this was the cause, so I wonder if it is possible that X2Pro could report more information when it stumbles, such as 'file x not found in expected place' or some such?
Thanks for your help. It is working smoothly now, and i am very glad that it has this new option in the preferences.

The file that is was complaining about was an MP4 file called "Crunch_ The Nutty Boys - Fur Elise.mp4", which should be in "Lee OMM.fcpbundle/22-05-2017/Original Media/" on a drive called "Seagate"

Was the "Seagate" drive plugged in when you tried to convert this fcpxml?
If so, was the mp4 file in that folder?
If so, can you please send that file to us?

Ian,
the decision to have it off by default was based upon the requests that we have received previously and the expectation of most users that all media will be included unless a user decision not to do so is made.
Please upload the fcpxml and the mov which is causing the problem to our FTP server:

ftp.marquisbroadcast.com
user - drop
password - h}JcdL_##re!ui9W

You will need to use an FTP client as you can't upload with Finder, we suggest filezilla. The folder is write only so you can't see anything that is in there already and can't download from it. Once uploaded the files will apparently disappear, that is fine.

Great idea. I reckon that should be on by default, since there is little reason to want it to stop midway through a conversion, and of course you might not spot it and waste a lot of time trying to fix it in FCP.
I compressed the xml down to 11 Mb and it still won't load. A small file limit.

Ian,

It's a relatively new preference, so it may not have been an option when you first started using X2Pro.

If you compress (zip) the fcpxml, is is small enough to attach then?

Excellent news. Thanks, Graham, i didn't realise there was a preference for it. As long as I can ignore that file, I can easily cope without it and add it later if required. Apparently the xml is too large to attach here (29Mb)

X2Pro can omit files where it has a problem and list them at the end. It's in the "Media Handling" section of the preferences. Choose "Generate warning and continue creating an AAF file" when "Handling media errors".

If you attach your fcpxml, we can start looking into the problem with that media file.

I keep getting this message:

Writing AAF file
Adding assets to AAF file
Adding essence for asset [Crunch_ The Nutty Boys - Fur Elise] to AAF file
Opening audio extractor for portion 0 of asset [Crunch_ The Nutty Boys - Fur Elise]
Failed to initialise audio extractor with default bit depth of 16
Error Setting up for audio extraction (The requested URL was not found on this server.)

Suggestion: Does this movie contain an unsupported audio format ?

No AAF file has been generated.
X2Pro Audio Convert 4.0.21

The file is a mov file. It is there. It plays fine on the desktop. There is no url involved. What is the problem, and why can't you program the conversion process to omit files where it has a problem and list them at the end. As it is, one problem file, which isn't a problem, is stalling everything and I can't get on with the job. Poor.
