Thanks for clarifying, James!
But then I didn't get the initial post why Colson has a problem : ))
If he talks not about just volume levels, but about gain filter with the levels adjustment, then ok.

Dear SadMac,
Sorry for any confusion, hopefully I will clarify.
In an FCPX XML if you have put transitions in between two clips, which I imagine you would do otherwise you would get a pop at the point they joined, we will put those transitions into the AAF.
If you use Levels/AutomationGain/RubberBanding where you have lets say given at point X a pad of 3 dB, and point Y a pad of 5 dB we will put those points and those values for the audio in the AAF. However FCPX is logarithmic in scale and ProTools will translate a more linear path between point X and Y.
If you put a fade handle on, then we will translate that into the AAF, i.e. on a clip it fades in or out completely and is the only audio at that point.
Yours sincerely.
James

Hey, now I misunderstand this statement : )
The app features described on the site and in the App Store:
"X2Pro faithfully translates your audio timeline along with ...transitions, levels, automatic gain and fade handles..."
Now, you said all these adjustments "are not applied as it is better to do the processing in ProTools" - it smells too marketing to me : )
I'm not good at English, so, maybe I've got it wrong?
Can you clarify, please:
if I set up the volume levels in FCPX (with keyframing) will I get these levels in AAF in DAW?

I assume that these 2 items in the feature list are what you are talking about:
Translates L-cuts, J-cuts, levels, automatic gain and fade handles
Transitions converted into linear cross fades
Although the information is either translated or carried across the gain adjustments are not applied as it is better to do the processing in ProTools and not in X2Pro to keep the actual processing at the highest possible quality.

Hi all,
I apologize for the double post, but I noticed both the Website and App Store description for X2Pro says that the program can indeed translate levels, automatic gain and fade handles when exporting. I was just wondering if a different program is needed for them, or what I should be doing to allow these options to work.
Sorry if this will garner the same response as before, I just find is strange that these options are mentioned on the website, yet from what I've read online and been told, are not a part of the program itself.
Thanks again

Hi Colson,
As a rule, X2Pro doesn't take audio adjustments/effects over in the AAF. It works this way because it was expected that most editors would prefer all the audio editing to be finished in Pro Tools.

Hi all,
I have been trying to export audio from Final Cut Pro X, starting out with a 10 second clip to test out X2Pro. Upon converting the XML from Final Cut to an aaf, bringing the file into Logic Pro X seems to not carry over any of the levels or fades applied to the audio, as if the audio was never edited within Final Cut. Is it possible to carry over these elements, or am I doing something wrong?
Thank you
