Hey James,

Thanks for your reply. I've requested the editor will get x2pro and do this on her end. In the meantime though I have a new FCPXML attached. I had her take out any video files, effects, auditions and assign proper roles, does that address some of the bulited issues below.

Also, if you force it to make an AAF how do I relink the source audio on my end since you don't have it? I'm confused why the AAF from x2pro has to contain embedded audio and can't point towards audio in a separate folder instead.

Dear Eric,

X2Pro will only work with .fcpxml. If you change the file extension to .fcpxml and import into FCPX I can see your project and export this to X2Pro, Obviously I don't have the media but I can force it to create an AAF with the following
Information :
• Unsupported audio filter [Large Room] at 00:03:35.72 has been ignored
• The retimed clip at 00:01:24.04 has been moved to role retimed-dialogue
• Unsupported audio filter [Large Room] at 00:03:50.84 has been ignored
• Unsupported audio filter [Medium Room] at 00:06:05.45 has been ignored
• The retimed clip at 00:04:10.77 has been moved to role retimed-dialogue
• The retimed clip at 00:03:25.84 has been moved to role retimed-dialogue
• Unsupported audio filter [Large Room] at 00:03:41.6 has been ignored
• Unsupported audio filter [Large Room] at 00:04:01.9 has been ignored
• Unsupported audio filter [Medium Room] at 00:06:32.72 has been ignored
• Unsupported adjustment [loudness] at 00:08:44.23 has been ignored
• Unsupported adjustment [loudness] at 00:08:03.48 has been ignored
• The retimed clip at 00:01:23.8 has been moved to role retimed-dialogue
• Unsupported audio filter [Medium Room] at 00:05:53.13 has been ignored
• Conform rates have not been applied.
• Unsupported adjustment [loudness] at 00:08:11.24 has been ignored
• Unsupported adjustment [loudness] at 00:08:22.03 has been ignored
• The retimed clip at 00:01:25.48 has been moved to role retimed-dialogue.dialogue-1
• Unsupported adjustment [loudness] at 00:07:58.83 has been ignored
• The retimed clip at 00:01:25.68 has been moved to role retimed-dialogue
• Unsupported audio filter [Medium Room] at 00:06:07.29 has been ignored
• Unsupported audio filter [Monster] at 00:04:10.77 has been ignored

If you have access to FCPX can you also import the xml and see if you can relink the media in FCPX and then export this to X2Pro.

Yours sincerely

James

I'm an audio engineer doing post sound design on a pilot.

Production has given me several files; AAF (from FCPx via DiVinci Resolve, they don't work) and both FCP XML and standard XML files. Along with this I received the source audio and any SFX used in the editors timeline in separate folders.

After hours of pulling my hair out I realized the only useful files are the FCP XMLs, but now I can't get x2pro to create the AAF using the source audio files I have in place of the audio files the editor had on his drive. Is there any way to create the AAF from the source audio files or should this whole process be done by the editor with the exact files he created the XML from?

I'm use to OMFs so the audio doesn't need to be embedded in the transfer file, is this not possible between FCPX > X2Pro > ProTools 10.3 ?

I'm a week out from the deadline and starting to sweat, please help.
