OK, thanks Emmanuel. Hopefully it won't happen again.

I'm pretty sure the xlm file doesn't contain the updated role. Now I'm not able to replicate this on a new project... Well, let's put this topic in 'sleep mode' and awake it if the problem happen again, is that fine?

Thanks!
Emmanuel.

I can see exactly what you mean from your screen grab, but I don't know why it is happening. I can't get it to happen here, as you can see in my video and we have also not heard of anyone else seeing this behavoiur. I was about to ask if you were using FCP X 10.0.6, but I realised that I can tell from the screengrab that you are. Does it happen if you create a new project, just to test it?

Since you are changing the roles in the event, and this isn't having an effect on the project, I suspect that the exported project fcpxml does not contain the role changes either. X2Pro is only able to know about roles that are described in the exported project fcpxml, and this is why it is not mentioning the extra roles that you are selecting in your event.

If you would like, you could attach your fcpxml here and I could tell you if this is indeed the case?

Erondeau,I can't make out anything from that attached picture, it looks like the screen grab dimensions have been shrunk and it also looks like it has had too much compression applied.

Please find attached a screen capture.

As you can see, the sound media file "4CH014I" has an 'INTERVIEW" role in the event viewer, but when I click on it in the timeline, it is recognized as a 'Dialogue' role in the inspector.

Hi Emmanuel,

That is strange, are you able to upload a screen recording (you could use quicktime X to do this) showing this behaviour?

Terribly sorry of this VERY late reply.

First, thanks a lot for your answer.

I went back to my timeline for double checking and here is the thing.
- I changed the role in the Clips/Event viewer from Dialogue to INTERVIEW.
- But for an unknown reason, when I get on my timeline (compound clip), clic on the audio element and check in the inspector, it still shows as Dialogue...

Any idea.

Again, thanks for your help.
Best,
Emmanuel.

Hi Emmanuel,

I have tried to reproduce what you have got in FCP X, but am unable to. I have a couple of clips inside a compound clip with 2 different audio roles (e.g. "AudioRole1" and "AudioRole2"). When I inspect the compound clip it shows the roles as "VideoRole, AudioRole1, AudioRole2". When I change the audio role of the compound clip to "Dialog" then inspect the clips inside, they are both now set to "Dialog".

See attached mov if you need clarification of what I was trying

Perhaps you could explain how you are able to get a different role on your compound clip to the roles of the clips contained within it?

erondeau created the topic: Compound Clip & Audio roles
Hi Everybody,

Here is the problem :
- In my project, all medias have specific roles, especially audio (Interview, Interview_Ambiance, Sfx, Music etc...).
- Interview and Interview_Ambiance are in compound clips. These Compound clips have the default Video/Audio roles: "Video/Dialogue".
- When using X2Pro Audio Convert (2.1.1) for exporting the AAF, the only roles available for exporting (from X2Pro) are dialogue and music.

I'm wondering if anybody else had the same issue and if it is from X2Pro or FCPX.

Thanks!
Emmanuel.
