Hi,

That's good to hear, thanks for letting me know.

I don't know exactly what you will be getting back from Pro Tools, but if it's a simple audio mixdown, you should be able to do something like export only your video, then and just add your audio from Pro Tools to that.

Me again! Ha!

I just wanted to thank you so much for all your help. It worked!

One more question for you, though.... are there any steps to take to import the sound file that I will be getting back from Pro Tools?

Thanks again.

Unfortunately there is no way of getting X2Pro on a physical disk because the licensing/copy protection will not work without the app store integration.

You can always re-download Mac apps that you have purchased from the app store for free, and you can take a backup of the app from the applications folder if you would like to keep a copy safe elsewhere.

Hi Alyssa,

You upgrade from the preferences. It should say something like "Do you want to buy one X2Pro LE Upgrade to Professional Edition?" and should be around $89.99 (USD)

Once you do this the currently disabled option of "Trim embedded audio" will become enabled and you will be able to choose a "Trim handle" in the preferences.

Ps. I tried to upgrade from the Preferences in the LE version and it asked me if I want X2Pro LE..... Does that give me the embed option or do I need the x2Pro (not LE). Please clarify. Thank you.

Ok, so how do I upgrade and buy the X2Pro but how to I upgrade without paying the entire amount? I already have the LE (paid for, so I don't want to pay double).

Also, is there a way to have a physical disc of X2Pro.

Thanks!

X2Pro is not including the video. It's likely that the AAF is larger than you expect because it is including all of the audio from your project (with maximum handles) rather than just the section you have used. For example if your project uses 3 seconds from a 1 hour clip, the whole 1 hour clip is included in your AAF. This is done so that when the AAF is opened in Pro Tools, there is room for the sound editor to adjust the clip in their sequence.

If you purchase the Pro upgrade, you will have all the features that are available in the non-LE version. One of those extra features is the option to trim embedded audio with configurable handles which could greatly reduce the size of your AAF.

Hi!

Thank you for our response. Yes, that is the option. So, thanks for your answer.

My problem is that when I use the X2Pro, I am getting an aaf file that is 2.4 gigs for a 3 minute project. It's too heavy. I seem to be exporting the video and audio together.

On the LE version, when the window pops up in X2Pro to do my converting, I can't change the settings. Is that the problem? I am not sure how to select audio only....

Thanks once again!

Hi Alyssa,

I think you are talking about option which is labelled "Metadata View" in the english version (screen grab attached) which has the options of:
- None
- Basic View
- General View
- Extended View
- Audio View
- EXIF View
- IPTC View
- Settings View

If so, then it doesn't matter what you select as they all contain the information that X2Pro needs.

belalyssa created the topic: Exporting
Can someon explain to me in very simple terms how to export from FCP X (10.0.6 or 10.08) files that can be imported to Pro Tools (Professional) with X2Pro LE.

What type of XML file do I need to export? When the window pops up, I am asked what kind of presentation I want (I have a french version, so my terms might not be perfect in English), such as general presentation, simplified presentation, or none at all.

What do I do so my sound editor can use my files? Simple.

Thank you.

Alyssa
