Graeme,

Clearly the channel confusion is the problem. I took a closer look at the project and discovered the the clip identified in the error message is used inside compound clips where sometimes the audio is arranged as four channel mono and sometimes at dual-stereo tracks. Seeing this inconsistency, I tried making sure all the appearances of the clip (on the main storyline and in compound clips) conformed to the audio arrangement associated with the clip in the event: namely dual stereo. Unfortunately, this experiment didn't work. I still get the same error message.

The clip was downloaded from the web then transcoded using handbrake. That transcoded file was imported into FCPX.

I'm happy to share the file if you give me ftp instructions.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Bryan,

Sorry that you are experiencing problems with X2Pro. The issue looks like is caused by X2Pro thinking a clip has 2 audio channels, then finding out later that it really has 4.

It would be great if we could take a look at the clip so that we can find out why it is causing X2Pro get this wrong. The file is:
"/Volumes/12 Promises - Assembly/Final Cut Events/12 Promises/Original Media/Sisyphus.m4v"
Are you able to provide this file? I can give FTP details if that would help.

Where did this clip come from (e.g. what camera/transcoding software) and how was it imported into FCP X?

Like some others, I'm getting the following error notice when trying to run X2Pro:

-->
Writing AAF file
Adding assets to AAF file
Adding essence for asset [Sisyphus] to AAF file
Adding essence data to AAF file for portion 0 of asset [Sisyphus]
Adding audio data to AAF file
Adding Sample Data
Creating Essence Data Objects
Wrong number of data buffers (2) passed to Add Sample Data (expected 4)
Error code: 0x1

No AAF file has been generated.
<--

Software environment details:
X2Pro Audio Convert 2.1.9
FCPX 10.0.8
OS X 10.8.4

I've attached the fcpxml film I'm using for you to take a look at it.

Thanks for any guidance you can provide.
