Hey Graeme!

Wow, thanks! Ironically, after your last post that was in fact MY first thought also. That not the project was exported, but rather the EVENT.

To clarify, the XML is from a client that is not terribly proficient in FCP X yet and I have relayed your information about the Alternatives etc. and hope he manages to send me a new and correct(ed) XML soon. I will be sure to let you know how things go!

Again, your support is truly exemplary, thanks again!

Andie,

We know now what the problem is and how you can get it working.

You had exported an event fcpxml instead of a project fcpxml. This is the real reason that X2Pro was not able to convert your project.

To make sure that you export a project fcpxml, close your project and make sure that it is selected in the list of projects by single-clicking it. Now when you export the fcpxml it will be a project fcpxml

Some more info:
The way that the XML was laid out was different to what X2Pro was expecting (but was probably valid) which caused X2Pro to display the message about "ID r2". In the next release, X2Pro will deal with this layout better and so won't show the message about ID r2, but you will of course still have to export project fcpxmls.

Also you will have to finalize any auditions before you export your project fcpxml otherwise X2Pro will not convert it.

Let me know if this helps and you are able to convert it now.

Andie,

The developers have looked at your fcpxml and are a little confused by it...

Project fcpxmls normally have a section in them that describes a project, but yours doesn't seem to have this section, so we're not sure what we should be doing with it. I have tried opening your fcpxml in FCP X 10.0.9, but FCP X displays an error message saying that it "imported with errors". After that error message is dismissed there are new events, but there are no new projects.

Can you please explain exactly how you created this fcpxml?

We are asking apple what we should be doing with an fcpxml like yours, but in them meantime we also noticed that you had a number of unfinalized auditions. X2Pro will not convert an fcpxml with unfinalized auditions, so in any case you would have to finalize these before you export your FCPXML.

Would you be able to finalize your auditions and try again?

Could you also attach a copy of your fcpxml when all the auditions are finalized?

Hi Andie,

ID r2 is an MP3 file:

/Users/nielsmarquardt/Movies/Final Cut Events/Coloring SOD/Original Media/SOD - Intro & Szene 1 (Audio 48kHz).mp3

The error is not likely to be caused by the mp3 file because I get the same error when I try to load the FCPXML on a different machine that doesn't have access to the MP3.

I've referred this issue on to the developers with ticket number 4166. I'll keep you updated with what they find.

Sure. This is the file which is actually just an excerpt/single scene of the entire project.

Andie created the topic: Unable to parse FCP XML
While trying to create an AAF file from a fairly large project's (2+hrs) XML that has a lot of sub-roles (whether relevant or not, I don't know), I keep getting:

"Unable to parse FCP XML file to obtain project information
Details : Renaming asset with ID r2 to SOD - Intro & Szene 1 (Audio 48kHz) unable to find asset with IDr2"

How do I know what "IDr2" is?

Cheers,
Andie
