We have not been able to reproduce this issue in our lab here yet.
Are you able to make a very simple project containing some small clips that exhibits the issue and provide it for us to look at? I can give ftp details if you are able to do this?

I am having the same issue.
Clip positions on the timeline are drifting (about 2secs per 45 mins) when imported into protools or logic pro X
If I import the FCPXML directly into logic pro X all is in sync with the reference video.
Please let me know if there is a fix for this issue or when it will be resolved
Thanks,
Danny

Hey Graeme,
Thanks for the info. In fact, I am meeting with the audio post folks later this morning to review any outstanding issues on their side with the AAF. I believe they have resolved the issues they were having but this information will be helpful.
Thanks again for the fast and very helpful support.

We have seen audio drift if sample rate conversion is turned on when importing the AAF into Pro Tools. It might be worth making sure that they don't have that option selected when they open the AAF.

Hey Graeme,
No it is not the retimed clips that is the problem - none of those clips had ambient sync audio that was the issue. I will ask the post audio house about getting the time codes of the problematic clips - the "audio drift" was something that only they recognized when they imported the .aaf into ProTools. I suspect it may be a ProTools specific import issue.
Anyway, I'll get back to you with more info. Meantime, thanks again for the fast and helpful support. Much appreciated.
Cheers,
joe

Hi Joe,
The fcpxml indicates that a number of your clips have retime effects applied to them. Is it these clips that "drift"? If so, then this is expected because X2Pro doesn't do any retiming, and it should have warned about this in the conversion report.
If the drift is not related to the retimed clips, can you please give me a time code a name of a clip that drifts so that I can look at it in the sequence and compare it to the AAF?

Hey Graeme,
Sure thing - here it is attached. In the meantime, we may have sussed out some of the issues on this end but I'd be very interested in what you can learn from the xml. As I mentioned, the majority of the project was originated on the RED at 5K (24fps/23.98 transcoded) but there are a variety of different media in various formats and frame rates included in the 23.98 project file too.
Thanks again - I like x2Pro very much by the way.
Cheers,
joe

Hi Graeme,
Yes I did export an xml from FCPX (fcpxml) and converted it using X2Pro. X2Pro successfully produced an .aaf file but it seems that when my post audio house tries to import that .aaf into ProTools for mixing there are problems. X2Pro did display a message box that listed a number of issues related to audio issues (fades and effects, etc.) not being supported in the .aaf file it created. I expected these exceptions and - since the entire audio track was going to be mixed - that does not seem to be the problem. Rather it seems that there is "drift" in the placement of the audio tracks in the .aaf when compared to a quicktime video of the project.

Hi Joseph,
I think that information might be out of date, have you tried converting your project using X2Pro? If so, did you get any error messages or unexpected clip placement in your AAF?

I am working on a documentary that was shot on the RED at 5K resolution at 24fps. For editing all the footage was transcoded to HD ProRes(422) at 23.98. My project file in a 23.98 and includes this RED transcodes as well as other footage. As noted in the FAQ's x2Pro has a problem producing the .aaf file from a 23.98 project. Can this problem be fixed and how soon? I am finishing my film now and this is an urgent issue for me. Thanks for the help.
