X2Pro version 3 (with uncompressed audio in an MP4 file support) has just been released in the app store as a free upgrade

Hi,

Editing the fcpxml should be a last resort. First try relinking to renamed M4V files or relinking to optimised/proxy versions of the clips.

If that doesn't work, and you definitely have M4V or optimised/proxy versions of all your clips, we can then try editing your fcpxml.

Hey there. I've experienced the same problem when trying to export an AAF for sound mixing. I shot my film with Sony a7. I tried to follow y Graeme's instructions, but can't do the edit of the fcpxml. Can I get some help, please?

The problem is that some newer Sony cameras create MP4 files that contain LPCM audio which is a wrapper/codec combination that is not supported by the QTKit framework. Both QuickTime Player 7 and X2Pro use the QTKit framework which is why they both have a problem with the file.

Until this problem is resolved in X2Pro, we have a couple of ways to work around the issue. If you decide to try these workarounds, make sure that you make backups of both your project and you media files first.
  • Rename the MP4 files to M4V and relink to the M4V files.
  • Create transcoded ("optimized" or "proxy") versions of the MP4 clips using FCP (you may already have optimised/proxy versions if you chose to create them on import) then either
    • Make copies of the transcoded versions and relink to the copies (do not relink to the optimized/proxy versions where FCP creates them, you must relink to copies of them)
    • Edit the fcpxml file in a text editor to point to the optimized/proxy versions rather than the original media (we can help with editing the fcpxml if you can confirm that you have created optimized/proxy media and you provide your fcpxml).

The error message is saying that X2Pro is unable to open a file called "CES15_02_A702C0014.MP4" that is supposed to be on a drive called "515" in a folder called "FOOTAGE AUDI LV CES 15/CES15_02_A702/M4ROOT/CES15_02_A702_CLIP/"

Have you used Finder to check whether the file is really there? If it is, can you play it in QuickTime Player?
