Thank Graeme !
It's a good idea to explain that more precisely...
(an exemple of this way of understanding "multi channel" is when you export multichannel QuickTime... in this case, multi channel is more than 2 channel. With only 2 channel you export a simple QuickTime)

Martin,
"Multi" in "multi-channel" is short for "multiple", meaning "more than one". This applies to editing too; for example a multi-cam clip with only two angles is still a multi-cam clip.
Nonetheless, I have changed the "Reference multi-channel WAV files" section of the knowledge base to include the sentence "A multi-channel WAV file is a single WAV file that contains more than one audio channel."

Jeremy,
You should explain clearly in your Knowledge Base that for you multi-chanel = more than one chanel.
I think that for editors "multi chanel" = more than 2 chanel !!!
Please make something to feed your Knowledge Base...

Stereo tracks in FCP X get converted to mono tracks going into Avid Pro Tools, so if they are are "Stereo" tracks inside of FCP X then they are considered "Multi-channel" audio files by X2Pro.
By default X2Pro will only reference single-channel WAV files because Pro Tools has trouble opening an AAF that references more than one channel from a single WAV file. If you know your DAW can handle multi-channel referenced WAV files, you can tell X2Pro to reference them.

Thank Jeremy,
But where are you seeing a "multi-channel" files in the XML ?
Can you copy/paste the XML lines where you see that ?
All are stereo !!! It's not what is called "multi-chanel audio files" isn't it ?
Thank for more explanation

Your FCP Project has multi-channel WAV audio, which is handled differently by X2Pro than single-channel WAV audio files.
Because Avid Pro Tools doesn't not process multi-channel audio files, X2Pro by default will not reference multi-channel WAV audio into the AAF, even when the main UI button is clicked to "Reference WAV files in place". However, there is the option to reference multi-channel WAV files in the X2Pro Preferences in the "Media Handling" tab, that includes a note about the effects of referencing the multi-channel WAV files when sending to Pro Tools and other Audio finishing software.
I hope this helps.

Hi,
Another problem... about WAV files.
For other test for my french interactive PDF about FCP X, I tried to "reference" a FCP X Project wich is only a cut with 8 différents Wav files (From Sony, H4n, Tascam recorders and other ".Wav" or" .WAV" files).
None of those 8 files have been référenced after the process !!!
Here is a grab of the main X2Pro Window
The XML is here (from FCP X 10.2 and 1.4 XML version)
A grab of the Console message after this attempt:
How can you explain that X2Pro doesn't want to reference those Wav files ?
An other question is about PCM audio: does X2Pro consider those file as Wav files ?
Thank for your help
