I usually do a 540p H.264 out of FCPX, with a timecode overlay for our sound department.
Easy to do, saves space and processor power for the sound team, and renders quite quickly.

If you need a video guide track in your DAW, export the video from FCP-X, we tried H.264 into ProTools, and import into your DAW after importing the AAF. It should line up perfectly.
