For digital performer the AAF seems to have got even worse than last release.
Now no tracks or clips are imported at all (previous release ended up with some but the clips were empty).

Check Alan's video showing how to get X2Pro AAFs into Nuendo:

Just to chime in here, I'm a DP user as well and just tried the files and, like mrlimbic, they don't work for me either. Just an empty session. I'd love to get this working, as our video department is probably going to be moving to FCPx later this year.
I'll happily offer my services for beta testing or whatever...
Thanks!

Not sure why Digital Performer doesn't like your AAFs. I have never had it not like an AAF before. I was actually going to use DP to convert the AAF to an OMF, so I could eventually get it into reaper!!
I mostly use reaper these days and use AAtranslator for conversions (as it supports reaper very well from a number of formats).
The only downside to reaper is to keep the price reasonable they avoid license issues with OMF/AAF.
AAtranslator get around the licensing probs by charging more for the version with OMF and Protools support.

Hi guys, so I bought the program, and I tried a more complex session with Nuendo. First off, I got that error message, but upon adding a few frames of black, it all exported just fine... Very strange!
I then tried to import into Nuendo with no luck, but I did get it into Pro Tools and was then able to export an OMF that opens just fine in Nuendo. A bit of a workaround, but everything seems to line up perfectly, which is all I need!
I'll be doing a huge project with it this weekend and will let you all know how it goes! So glad to finally have a way to get audio out of FCPX.

Hi,
Sorry to hear that X2Pro doesn't meet your needs.
We are keen to make it work with as man DAWs that support AAF as possible, so if anyone can put us in touch with MOTU so that we can iron out the issues, that would be great.
We went to AAF as it is a very flexible and well established format that we understand well. It is also far more of a standard (re AMWA) than OMF. We've no experience of the Pro Tools format.

Both the AAFs open in digital performer but are completely empty so useless for DP users.
Why didn't you choose protools for export as there are many translation programs that will convert that for other DAWs? For instance I can easily go from protools file to reaper (which is my favorite DAW but doesn't support OMF/AAF for licensing reasons).
I often use this for DAW format translation. I can go from OMF or Protools to reaper, but not AAF to reaper.

Hey Graeme, well, I need this to work for me in the next few days, so I think I'll just go ahead and buy it. If I have to use PT, that's no problem, I have both. I'll be more than happy to post a video of my workflow if all goes well! Thanks Graeme!

Olivier, That is correct. We actually use "infinite" handles, but I had trimmed 5 seconds off the start and end of the clip that I put at the start of the storyline.
Jeff, Our audio positioning within the AAF is accurate to 1 millisecond. I can try to do a more complicated sample for you, but it might take me a while to get hold of some clips that I am allowed to distribute. If you have a small project or small section of a project with events that you can upload for me (I can supply FTP details) , I'll run it through X2Pro for you to take a look at. It would be even better if you had something that you wouldn't mind giving us permission to put on the forums for other people to download and look at?

Thanks Graeme, works here as well. I think the big thing is now to try a more complex one from a multiple edit file in FCPX (maybe 5 or 6 edits), then also export an audio mix down in fcpx. Then import the AAF, and the mix down, and zoom in to make sure it's sample accurate. I know that sounds a big ridiculous, but on some of my early tests with other software, there was a shift in the audio when finally getting it to Nuendo. If this shift definitely doesn't happen, and if I can get a complex timeline out of FCPX into Nuendo (compound clips and all) I'll buy the software today!
Thanks Graeme, I'm only hesitant as the older alternatives were so weak (Automatic Duck and this hack I made up)
vimeo.com/30717925 that's my hack that sort of worked, but not enough for me to keep using it! That's why I'm hoping this software works.

The handles worked for me in Nuendo.
5 sec on both sides.
The clip was at the beginning of the timeline.
Thank you Graeme.

Thank you Olivier.
I have updated my original post ( x2pro.net/Media-and-Formats/60-Sample-AAF-created-by-X2Pro/Page-2.html#60 ) to include an AAF that has handles.

It's very simple :
- create an empty new project
- import aaf (select all tracks and check "import all media files")
- Nuendo ask if you want to extract media - click 'Yes'
Done !
Yes I would like to test AAF with handles.
