Ben,
sorry if you think we have been stringing you along, that was certainly not the intention. We regularly ask people what features are most important to them and then balance that with how hard those features are to implement before deciding the priorities.
Unfortunately Logic just does not support AAF well enough to make it possible for us to implement support. If it did, we would already have done so.
All the best.
Chris

Dear Ben, at this time we don't have any plans to implement support for Apple Logic Pro, we did last year look into it and again this year however as it would require a considerable amount of development work we haven't progressed it. I will talk to the product manager about this.
James.

I remember when y'all first launched, there were banners asking if Logic users were interested. I know there are lots of us around. But at this time, if you guys are still just thinking about it, well, we won't hold our breath. But thanks for stringing us along!

Hi Ben,
X2Pro uses the open source AAF SDK from the AAF Association to write the AAF, so the files are definitely within the AAF spec. As well as Pro Tools, we have had reports X2Pro's AAFs have also been successfully imported into Steinberg Nuendo and Merging Technologies Pyramix.
We are unsure exactly what Logic Pro doesn't like about the AAFs created by X2Pro, as Chris said in a previous post, "it looks as though Logic cannot handle embedded audio in an AAF". X2Pro now has the option to reference audio rather than import it (this feature is NOT available in the LE version), and this might mean that Logic is happier opening the AAF, but I don't know if this has had much (if any) testing.
I'll add your name to the list of people who have requested this feature. We are still discussing Logic support and will update this thread when we have any news.

I have a whole FCP users group, dozens of students, and consulting clients across the country who are all extremely disappointed you dropped the ball on Logic Pro support. Can't be that difficult to deal with. AAF is an Open Source format after all.

I created a couple small ones from 10.0.3 fcpx and opened them in Apple Logic Pro 9. It shows the 'tracks' but doesn't bring in the audio. Not sure what is up with that. Do you have an AAF I could try of yours? And vice versa I could send one.

We've only been testing on Pro Tools, but what we produce is a standard AAF, so if Logic accepts that, then there is a good chance it would work. If you have a short project and media you could share with us via our ftp site, we'd be happy to run it through and and let you try the result.

Will you support apple logic pro 9 or any other DAWs? Or based on the name alone of the tool X2Pro this will only ever be for Avid Pro Tools based on the investment it takes?
