I bought X2pro today, used it right away on a project. I forgot, at first to set the roles in my fcpx project, but when I did that it worked perfectly.
Both, import and reference with the VFS (virtual file system)... But when trying to convert two tracks into one stereo track it failed...
So import the media and all works nice....

We'll be posting a video tutorial on our YouTube channel by tomorrow morning (hopefully tonight, Utah time.) It's actually just a dialog that automatically pops up for us on import.
It gives you a yes/no with the question to extract the audio (yes,) or reference it (no.) Click no, and you should be off to the races.
Also, when importing the AAF, you'll need to create a new project. But I'm pretty sure that's just Nuendo's default behavior.
We're also working in an entire Mac-based environment, might that have something to do with it?

@Ilan Golovy: Can you please try opening up the AAF again and choosing not to import the embedded audio? We have had some reports from other people of this working (see this forum post:
x2pro.net/Media-and-Formats/78-Audio-Bit-Rates.html#84
)

Thanks Gretta, yes I saw the announcement, but still have no direct contact for Nuendo, whether at Steinberg or Yamaha, I guess I'll have to just haunt their stand at NAB!
We do have one user that has managed to use X2Pro to create an AAF and import it into Nuendo, apparently by telling Nuendo to ignore the embedded audio (which it can't handle) and then presumably re-linking to the media. Not sure on the details as we don't have Nuendo and have yet to hear the details.

Yes, please; Nuendo. Nuendo has always been able to natively import OMF sequences without the necessity of DigiTranslator. How hard can it be to write? (I have no idea, so sorry…) there are obviously many of us who have a tightly integrated FCP/Nuendo workflow. I can't move to FCPX until and unless my sound editor can import OMF.
Chris:
Steinberg Media Technologies GmbH has announced that from April 1, 2012, the pan-European distribution of their Nuendo product range will move to Yamaha Music Europe.
By moving the Nuendo family of products to Yamaha's sales and distribution network, Steinberg and Yamaha are now able to offer a broader range of hardware and software system solutions to the commercial audio segment than ever before. This in turn achieves a clearer focus on precisely meeting the end customer's needs.
"We at Steinberg are happy that the continuing collaboration with Yamaha now also brings the well-established Nuendo range to further fruition," said Andreas Stelling, Steinberg's managing director. "Steinberg takes this opportunity to thank its customers for their support of Nuendo and is confident that the new partnership with Yamaha will help grow the business even further," Stelling added.
As of now, Steinberg Nuendo resellers within Europe are required to contact Yamaha Music Europe for any sales-relevant information on Nuendo.

If you go to the forum post linked below, there is an attached sample AAF created by X2Pro that you can test with Nuendo:

We use Nuendo too and wonder if X2Pro will work for us. I'll be glad to receive that small AAF you 're talking about and check it out.

We've only been testing on Pro Tools, but what we produce is a standard AAF, so if Nuendo accepts that, then there is a good chance it would work.
If you already have X2Pro, feel free to try, and report your findings here, or if not I could provide a small aaf created by X2Pro for you to try with Nuendo?
