Thanks Noel, my current workflow is exactly that using Sony Catalyst Browse to batch transcode to ProRes. As you can see from the answer provided earlier by one of the admin they had mentioned that Worx4X would ignore the MXF and reference the optimised ProRes files which Is unfortunately not that case. We must be set for a substantial update to FCPx soon so fingers crossed we have more options and flexibility in the future.

Hi Chrismans,
I did some further digging and you are absolutely correct, the fcpxml will always reference the original media. The optimised media is primarily there to improve performance during editing when FCP is dealing with some codecs.
I think the fundamental issue here is that your source media is mxf and the AVFoundation cannot create or trim mxf files.
We will look further into this to see if there is anything we can do. But in the mean time, and as a workaround, maybe your media could be transcoded to ProRes before it was imported into FCP.

Hi Noel, my understanding is that FCPx will always export the XML referencing the original media in this case MXF files.Hence my original question on how Worx4X deals with media optimised internally by FCPx. Is there an official workflow for this? I have no options inside of FCPx to change this. I’m unable to force FCPx to link to these are they are residing inside of the FCPx library as generated media

Hi Chrismans,
It looks like your Project is pointed at the original MXF media.
From the FCP XML:-
src="file:///Users/blue42/Movies/WORX4X.fcpbundle/30-05-20/Original%20Media/Clip0554.mxf"
Can you point it at the ProRes media and try again please?

Hi Noel thanks for getting back to me,
Yes I can confirm that I am selecting the project (sequence) for the XML export. There I have very limited options, basic, audio, extended etc.. and there is no Pop with Video Codec options
Ive attached both XML's many thanks

Hi Christmans,
Couple of things to check. I know they're fundamental so please bear with me.
When you Export the XML make sure the Project is selected and not a source clip.
When you see the Pop-Up, check the settings tab and make sure the Video Codec field is correct. e.g. Source - Apple ProRes
In Worx4 X, check the Sync Clips Processing option is selected
With the XML in Worx4 X, do any error messages appear in the Information window?
Would you be able to send us the before and after XML files please?

HI Daniel, I have just tested this process and its absolutely not the case.
I have some MXF clips that have been imported into FCPx, then transcoded (optimised) to ProRes. From there I have placed the 10 tips on the timeline at 3s duration. XML to Worx4x where i'm told "Copying as file (media cannot be segmented)" the entire MXF clip is then copied without handles. Have I missed something?

Apologies if this has been covered but I did a search and couldn't find it.
How does Worx4X handle Media that has been optimised internally by FCPx. ie, an event of MXF media that has been transcoded to ProRes by FCPx. Will it use this ProRes media while consolidating the new project out or still reference the original MXF media?
