Hi master3d,

Apologies for the delay,

We were unable to create an FCP XML with an alias (symbolic link) in it, the alias is always resolved so that the file path is the real one. However, you managed it so we have hand modified an FCP XML to point at an alias. In this case we fail to open the file. We believe that we need to create the URL that we pass to AV Foundation in a different way if the file is an alias. But this will have problems with security scoped bookmarks. As such we don't see how we can resolve this, can you advise how important this issue is to you, or how many times you have seen this error. How did you manage to create the xml in question?

Regards,

Daniel

Hi master3d,

We have created a ticket and will investigate the symbolic link and how they are/are not being opened by AVFoundation and will advise.

Regards,

Daniel

Dear James ,

let me explain what happene, and why your software make error.

When you work with FC X , usualy , you was generated proxy video. I don't know why, but , FC X make directory "Original Media" and "Transcoded Media". In "Original Media" FC X puts links to "Transcoded Media".

Lets see part of my XML file:
<effect id="r3" name="Audio Crossfade" uid="FFAudioTransition"/>
<asset id="r4" name="A096C006_160820_R0B5" uid="0A4226E7F9AD43E0DF94C46687FF2A02" src="file:///Volumes/PN/PN.fcpbundle/20.08/Original%20Media/A096C006_160820_R0B5.mov" start="339012/25s" duration="8090/25s" hasVideo="1" format="r1" hasAudio="1" audioSources="1" audioChannels="5" audioRate="48000">

You see string "src="file:///Volumes/PN/PN.fcpbundle/20.08/Original%20Media/A096C006_160820_R0B5.mov"

That is the path to media. But ! How you notice , it points to "Original" folder !

And how we remember , this folder contain links to transcoded media. But , your software can't recognize link or file.

What I think your programmists must to do, to solve this problem:

First way:
If file capasity < 100 Kb , then open link file and read path to "transcoded media"

Second way:
Make check box in UI "Used proxy or transcoded media" , and replace in XML all original folder to transcoded folder.

And many many other ways. Hope it not very hard for yours programers. )))

Dear master3d

Sorry you feel that way, I believe we have tried to help you, if you are not happy then you can ask the app store for a refund and they will oblige. Fundamentally we were struggling with opening up a piece of media, we use Apples own AVFoundation for this, if this fails we then use QT, the error message we were getting indicates that either the location where the XML tells us the media is located we cannot access, in which case we need to check that the location is specifically added in media locations, or there is an issue with the media itself. The other option which would be to forcibly create the AAF with out the errant media. Generally this is done in the ProVersion and there are a number of options to do this. There is also a way of doing this in the LE version, but it is not strictly LE functionality. To do this before you hit the start button on X2Pro hold the shift key down and you will then be given an option to create an AAF if no media present, it will then create an AAF with as much media as it can read.

Yours Sincerely

James

Dear James ,

If you software not work properly, why I must spend extra money for upgrade. I don't have guarantee that software will work after upgrade.
I lost about two week , but you support service can't fix my problem.
If you declared , that your software work with FC X , then I can work in all situation. If your Software have some constrains, please publick list of then in you official website.
Otherwise please solve my problem , or give me "pro" version for free.

Dear master3d,

It is an in app purchase, you will need to log into the app store as the user you purchased the LE version under, go to X2Pro and there will be an option for LE upgrade.

Yours sincerely

James

Do you have the X2Pro LE version? These and other additional options are available in the Pro version.

Hi master3d,

If you go into X2Pro preferences and go to the Media Handling Tab, and in the "Handling media errors:" section try selecting "Generate a warning and continue creating an AAF file" (See screenshot attached).

Hopefully this will allow you to get everything across.

Hi master3d,

Apologies for the delay,

It is hard to see what exactly is the problem without the media.Would it be possible for you to send us the media used in the clips called "1-7-8-1"? I can email you the details to our FTP if you need a way of sending it across to us.

Thanks,

Daniel
