Media Composer and ProTools use completely different methods for importing AAF, partly because MC is a video editing system and partly because the history of ProTools started outside Avid. X2Pro was optimised for use with ProTools and was never intended to integrate with Media Composer and is therefore not tested with it. If there were enough demand for Media Composer support we would consider adding it, however, other DAWs would be considered as higher priority for development as it is intended as a way to move the audio from FCPX to a DAW, specifically ProTools.

Hi,
I often need to export AAF audio for import into AVID for a client.
If I use X2Pro - the embedded AAF fails on import into AVID.
If I import the AFF into Logic Pro X and export again as AAF - I get a non embedded files which work - but with a tedious manual relink of media.
If I export an FCPXML - convert with XtoCC, then import into Premiere and finally export an embedded AAF (you see the problem?) that will import into Media Composer with no issues.
So what's different about the direct X2Pro AAF - (which works with Pro Tools FWIW)?
