Hi Versus,

The short answer is a no. The long answer is, we would like to update the X2Pro workflow to add support for Canon MXFs but we are unable to do so ourselves, this is because we use Apples AVFoundation and it currently doesn't support CRM files/fully support all MXFs. For us to be able to work with Canon files we would need Apple to update AVFoundation with support for Canon files, or for Canon themselves to release an SDK which we could download and build into X2Pro.

If its possible we would like you and anyone reading this to send a request to Apple asking them to provide support. Hopefully the more people that do this will increase our chances at getting full support. Apologies for not being able to fully support MXFs. If you would like a refund you can send a request to Apple and they will happily sort one out.

Kind regards,

Daniel

Has the X2PRO workflow when it comes to MXFs been updated yet? I'm currently encountering these issues using FCPX 10.4.8 and X2PRO 4.4.3. We shot solely on a Canon C300 which shoots MXFs and I'm encountering the same error message of "failed to open media file". MXFs are a standard format utilized by some very prevalent cameras, did we really just spend $150 on an app that won't work for us? And if so, you should really mention on your web page that X2PRO isn't compatible with MXFs, it's literally the whole reason i bought this. We cut a 22min pilot and transcoding each audio file would be a nightmare.

ok, thanks for investigating!
i mean, we already used mxf-files in the past years without bigger problems from canon C200 and sony fs7, which are quite common .. hopefully future will show any progress ..

all the best

The problem comes down to the file being an mxf file. We use AVFoundation to be able to read media files. So we rely on its ability to read/understand these clips in order for us to work with them. Apples AVFoundation struggles with a lot MXF files so that is why we are failing to extract the audio from your xml. The only thing I can suggest is to transcode the mxf files, which will then work with X2Pro.

We use Apples AVFoundation in X2Pro. It seems that AVFoundation doesn't have great support for MXF files.

Would you be able to open your console, run your XML through X2Pro again and then send us a copy of your console? Hopefully we will be able to confirm the issue.

Does your machine/X2Pro have access to "file:///Volumes/FlowRage1/Rohmaterial/Tolle Tiere 2019/01 VIDEO /07_Tolles fuer Tiere/"?

If your machine can browse it still, go into the X2Pro preferences (CMD + ,) and add the location in the media locations tab and see if that helps.
