You can but the software doesn't make a copy into a folder, working with referenced wavs is intended for situations where the DAW and FCPX have access to the same source media folders already or where all wavs are on an external disk which is then sent with the AAF to the DAW location.

In that case you should get an AAF with the media from the MP3s and any Video+Audio files embedded and offline clips where there are single channel WAV files, you can then re-link the WAV files when you open the AAF in your DAW. You do not get a folder created with WAV files in it, only an AAF with the audio 'missing'.

Is your audio in WAV files? If it is not then it will not be referenced, multi-channel WAV will also not be referenced unless you select the option to do that in the settings. See this section of the user manual:
x2pro.net/referencing-audio.html
This is the bit about referencing WAV files though:
Because of limitations in various DAWs (including Pro Tools), X2Pro will not reference any non-WAV audio (and by default will not reference multi-channel WAV files either).

Dear,
my first use of x2pro and sorry for english :)
I'm unable to create AAF with media in an external folder.
With o without "reference WAV file in place" checked, the result is the same: an AAF file with embedded media.
Where I'm wrong?
Any advice to help me?
Thankyou
Federico
