Editing the files back into the project timeline doesn't work in many cases.
I did find a workaround however. If you export an XML of the project, then re-import that XML into FCPX, then export an XML from the newly imported project, it included proper references to all of the audio. In essence it gets FCPX to clean up its own XML file.
Something to add to the FAQ perhaps?
Thanks for all the help!

As i mentioned in my response the last time, the issue that we pinpointed with your FCPXML has been seen previously, and I advised you to report this behavior directly to Apple.
This is an error or bug with FCP X that happens from time to time with some user's XMLs.
What we have done as a workaround to the bug is write an app that looks for the instances where the references are bad and try to adjust the asset listing to match what audio is requested later in the XML. We have seen success with this workaround for individual projects and instances, but it is by no means a completely flawless solution; as we are just going by what the XML references and not by the actual media in the project.
In the case of your XML, it appears that the individual WAV files that make up the audio for your RED files, may not have worked with our workaround app.
The only real solution is to try to go back to each of those files and see if you can re-edit them back into the project timeline.
I apologize for the inconvenience, but the problem is not with X2Pro, but with the XML that X2Pro is trying to convert.

There's been a slight tweak to the edit—new fcpxml attached. It'd be great to find a working solution where I don't have to bug you every time we do an export ;)

Thanks—that file opens and processes properly in X2Pro, but when I open the AAF in the latest version of Logic there are 38 files that throw error messages saying the WAV files are empty. One example is attached.

Picking up with a new version of this same project... same problem, same error message. Would you be able to run your script again on the attached XML file?
Error message:
Unable to parse FCP XML file to obtain project information
Details:
Getting asset with Id r22
Unable to find asset with Id r22
Suggestions:
- Ensure that the file is not locked by another application and is readable;
- Ensure that this is a valid FCP XML file from a released version of FCP X;
- Ensure that this is the export of a Project, not of a Library or Event;
- Ensure that this is not an empty project (or that all audio is disabled);

In your XML, the asset referenced at "r15" is associated with a file named "A001_C012_0710SU".
That file is listed as having video, but not having audio in the asset listing of the XML.
However, later in the XML it is referenced with audio tracks to be used that have never been mentioned before.
We have seen this previously, and were advised by Apple to have the users to report this behavior directly to them.

I have run the app on your original FCPXML and the edited version now loads in my system.
Give it a go in yours and see if you are able to convert the file now.
Also, please don't forget to supply the information i have given you to Apple, to help get the overall problem resolved.

Looks and sounds like your hard disk aren't in the finder listing.
Try this:
Try this:
- While in the Finder, go to the "Finder" menu and select "Preferences"
- From the "General" tab, place a check next to "Hard disks" -- this will make your hard drive visible on the Desktop.
- From the "Sidebar" tab under "Devices" again place a check next to "Hard disks" -- this will put your hard drive in the sidebar of any finder window, and should also add it to "Open", "Save", and "Save As..." dialog sheets (as well as others)

Ok when I click on +, under Devices I see only the following:
Remote disc
NR_01b_5TB (external hard drive)
NR_02a_5TB (external hard drive)
See attached screen shot.

Open to the Media Locations section of the user preferences in X2Pro. (like you did to provide me a screen capture)
Select the location you have setup and click the "-" (minus) button below.
The click the "+" (plus) button and in the window that appears, there should be a section in your Left hand bar called "Devices".
Look for your Macintosh HD listed in that and select it and then click "Select Folder" in the bottom right.
Let me know how you get along.

I believe you may have a few different problems here, but let's fix them as we go along.
Will you set the X2Pro Media Locations to just the Macintosh HD selection.
This will give the permissions to not only the internal drives on your mac, but also the external drives and any network locations you may have mounted on the computer.
Change that and then try converting your project again.
