Dear Yaphet,
Good to hear, we will let you know when the next release which will include the better error messaging to catch this for fade in's will be available.
Yours Sincerely
James

I eliminated the fades on all of those clips, and it worked! I was able to generate the AAF file. Will let you know if we run into other issues during the sound mix. Many thanks.

Hi Yaphet,
Apologies for the delay.
The clip in question is "name="2001-07-05 13:14:00"
Hopefully that will allow you to export your aaf file. If you have any more issues with it please let us know.

Excellent. That will be a big help. I'm working on the conversion of the entire film now. I think I may have at least one other clip with the same problem. Can you help identify the offending clip, then I will fix it on my end? (See the attached XML file and AAF error report.)
Also, is there an easy way for me to identify these clips on my own right now?
Many thanks,
Yaphet

Dear Yaphet,
In the next release we aim to provide a message in the text file warning where a fade in is larger than the clip (we do this for a fade out currently).
Yours Sincerely
James

Got it. Thanks, James. Before you sent this most recent reply, I deleted the clips you mentioned and one other clip from the same original audio, and I was finally able to generate an AAF file for this short test section of the film. I will attempt to take the fade off the applicable clips and try another test AAF. If all goes well, then I will generate an AAF file for the entire film.
All the best,
Yaphet

Dear Yaphet,
Apologies I pulled my response yesterday as it was not quite correct.
Fundamentally you cannot in an AAF represent a fade across multiple clips. You are using a compound clip which has been used with a fade in (this fade is also longer than the first clip in the compound clip). This is possibly ok in FCPX but is not legal in an AAF.
The workaround is to take the fade off of the multiclip in the XML.
Yours Sincerely and apologies for any confusion yesterday.

Hi James,
Thanks for your response (which doesn't seem to show up on the forum). Here is the duration for each clip :
"2003-08-11 18_56_32": The entire original clip is 23:15.
"Ext. Ambient-8-11-2003": The entire original clip is 15:29.
Let me know if that is not the information you needed, or if you need additional info.
Thanks,
Yaphet

Hi Yaphet,
We have done some investigating into the issue and it looks like it might be an issue with a change we made in a previous build. I'm going to pass your xml to one of our developers to investigate further.
Many thanks
